1. Do you plan to buy a U.S. business or franchise?

The U.S. has certain treaties with countries such as Canada that will allow you to obtain an "investor's visa", providing your investment in your U.S. business venture is considered substantial by Immigration. Whether or not an investment is "substantial" depends on the type of business, and is not a set sum. Immigration will require that the U.S. business show the potential to support an appropriate number of U.S. workers, depending on the type of business.
